PRCA ASD Public Notices
September 13, 2006
The PRCA Consensus Body is hard at work reviewing the standards and inputting all the feedback received to date. We estimate that we will be able to vote on the final version for submission to ANSI, around mid-fall. Please check back here or look for an e-mail announcement to all the members once this becomes final.
February 20, 2006 Questions have been raised as to the best format to submit your comments and feedback on the proposed PRCA American National Standards (ANS) 1-2006ED3 Ropes Challenge Course Installation, Operation, and Training Standards. Those wishing to make comments should place all their comments into a single MS Word (.doc) format document and e-mail in one complete file only. Those wishing to comment may also burn their MS Word (.doc) files onto a CD and US Postal Service mail them to the address listed in the February 3, 2006 notice.
Comments received in other formats may be discarded.

RE: ANSI Standards Review
Dear Ropes Challenge Course Professionals,
Over the last thirty days, the PRCA has been conducting a public review of our current standards to be adopted as American National Standards. Many of you purchased a copy of the standards and pursued the task of review diligently. We thank you for your time, commitment, and energy.
There has been misunderstanding around procedures within the process. One misunderstanding is we believed that two different procedures for review with ANSI operated concurrently. Our liaison with ANSI mentioned this is a frequent misinterpretation.
In light of the confusion and the gravity of the long term results of having industry standards approved, the PRCA would like to announce that it will conduct another public review period. The current feedback derived from this past review period will be collated and incorporated into the standards. This information will be circulated to the Standards Review Committee (Consensus Body) for their review and comment. Once the Standards Review Committee is in receipt of the comments to date, the PRCA will make a public and formal announcement for another review. If you purchased a copy of the standards during this past review, you will automatically receive a revised copy under the next review, without additional charge.
Since the PRCA standards are the first from this industry to have gone through this complex ANSI process, we desire to make sure they are the best standards they can be. This is a major responsibility for the PRCA and moreover, for the entire ropes challenge course community. We apologize for any inconvenience this may has caused you or the industry.
The PRCA has spent the better part of eight months becoming an American National Standards Institute, Accredited Standards Developer. It is the desire of the PRCA to assist the industry with quality standards that will allow for inclusive participation and represent the ropes challenge course community in a fashion reflecting professionally upon our industry as a whole. Again, we would like to thank you for your time and the valuable contributions of your knowledge to our industry.
