(ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer (ASD) for Ropes Challenge Courses and Canopy Tours / Zip Line Tours.

Welcome to the website for the Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA). The PRCA is a contemporary and very progressive association that supports the development and regulation of the ropes challenge course and canopy tour / zip line industry. Established in 2003, the PRCA has achieved tremendous accomplishments, surpassing other associations to become the first ANSI Accredited Standards Developer for the industry. The PRCA currently has active draft standards within the ANSI review process and public reviews are currently being conducted.
As the industry’s first American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Developer (ASD) since 2005, the primary goals of the PRCA is to produce and manage ropes challenge course and zip line / canopy tour standards, be a advocate for the development of the ropes challenge course industry, and an ANSI ASD governing voice for the continued advancement of the industry and self regulation.
Having successfully undergone the independent review of our standards creation procedures by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the PRCA process is reviewed to ensure fair and balanced representation for the industry. Currently the PRCA is undergoing a review of our standards per these procedures and looks to publish the first ever industry national standards in the near future.
Canopy Tours / Zip Line Tours / Adventure Tours
A special section within the standards address Canopy / Zip Line Tours and outlines installation, operation, safety equipment and other standards to regulate this emergent industry. Having been first published in 2002 / 2003 and are update on a regular basis, these standards have become the source of information for insurance companies, operators, travelers, and the cruise ship industry to name a few. Currently, the PRCA is the leading voice for the industry and welcomes participation from the industry worldwide.
Purpose / Vision
The purpose of the PRCA is to promote, enhance, support, and contribute to the ropes course industry worldwide. This is accomplished by the development of industry standards for ropes challenge courses and canopy tours / zip line tours. Standards include installation, inspection, operation, training, and certification standards. The Professional Ropes Course Association also provides ongoing development of operational, construction, inspection, Accredited Vendor reviews, and training standards for the ropes challenge course industry.
